TRA 2020
TRA, the Transport Research Arena, is the largest European research and technology conference on transport and mobility. In 2020, TRA takes place in Helsinki, Finland. Themed Rethinking transport – towards clean and inclusive mobility, TRA2020 brings together experts from around the world to discuss the newest innovations and future of mobility and transport. AIRCOAT will be present through a dedicated booth, and will also participate in a session on shipping though partners CML, KIT, and FMI.
Bioinspired Materials Conference
The 5th Bioinspired MaterialsConference 2020 will be held from 16 – 19 March 2020 in Irsee, Germany. The main aim of the conference is to establish an international and interdisciplinary forum for scientists from a variety of fields including biology, chemistry, materials science and engineering, physics and medicine to discuss current cutting-edge research and to identify future research directions in the field of bioinspired materials. AIRCOAT will be presented there through our partners KIT and CML.
Green Shipping Technology Europe
GST Europe is the world’s largest conference on green ship technology. The conference takes place on 11 – 12 March 2020 in Copenhagen, Denmark. AIRCOAT coordinator CML will be presenting the project at the conference.
“Einfach Wissenswert” Exhibition at House of Science Bremen
AIRCOAT will be exhibited at the House of Science public exhibition through our partner HSB. The exhibition will take place for 4 months, from February to June. The series of exhibitions is called “EINFACH WISSENSWERT” (or “Simply worth knowing”). This year’s exhibition is the tenth of this series and is called “HOCH HINAUS” (or Aim High)
GREEN INLAND SHIPPING
The EU plans to go climate-neutral by 2050.
So does inland shipping!
On 16 October, innovative vessels sail to the port of Brussels to show their journey towards decarbonisation. Hydrogen and electricity become part of the propulsion mix. Guests will be able to board vessels and discover new sustainable technologies.
Come and discover the innovative inland vessels which have embarked on that journey and test solutions that bring pollution down too.
The event is organised by the European Inland Barging Innovation Platform, Port of Brussels, Inland Navigation Europe, European Federation of Inland Ports, European Barge Union, European Skippers Organisation, EU IWT Platform, Central Commission for the Navigation of the Rhine in cooperation with the European Commission.

AIRCOAT AT SCIENCE IN THE CITY
AIRCOAT partner AquaBioTech Group (ABT) will present the AIRCOAT project as part of their exhibition in he 2019 edition of Science in the City. ABT representatives will encourage children and adults to use their imaginations and consider the concepts of marine surveying and the marine environment. While raising awareness of the importance of marine research and litter, showcasing the applications of marine science, such as the AIRCOAT project.
SUSTAINABLE SHIPPING TECHNOLOGIES FORUM 2019
The first “Sustainable Shipping Technologies Forum” will take place from September 26th to 27th, 2019 at the Congress Graz in Austria. 12 highly innovative international shipping research projects such as HyMethShip and AIRCOAT will be presented and discussed there. Excellent networking opportunities with an estimated 300 experts, opinion leaders and policymakers from all over the world will round up the two-day programme. The scope of the symposium is to underline the necessity and importance of sustainable solutions in the areas of Mobility, Transport and Power Generation and to network relevant stakeholders towards an emission-free future.
SUMMER OF KNOWLEDGE
From 20–23 June 2019, the residents of the Hanseatic City will experience a lively festival of knowledge in the heart of the city: experiments, shows, hands-on activities, and exciting exhibits on the most diverse scientific topics – all at the Town Hall square. You can find the programme here.
In four big theme-oriented tents, roughly 40 Hamburg universities and research institutions will offer a fascinating look at topics such as the climate and the environment, the natural sciences, medicine, art, and the city’s history – for curious minds and night owls of every age group. Admission is free of charge, and there is no need to register.
